S1/2 Handball Team Result

Deans faced St Margaret's, Linlithgow and Bathgate on Wednesday, looking to compete for the S1/2 Handball shield and the 25 points that go with it. Deans had qualified for the final having finished top of the east qualifier earlier in the month at Inveralmond.

In a tough round robin, Deans were slow to get going and lost all three games. It was one of the most competitive handball events at this level we've ever seen, with St Margaret's, Bathgate and Linlithgow all finishing joint 1st in the round robin and only being separated by goals scored.  Once the goals-scored tally had been calculated, Linlithgow and St Margaret's were to compete for 1st place in the playoff, with Linlithgow going on to win, and Deans were to face Bathgate, who had earlier beat Linlithgow 1-0! Fortunately for us, Deans turned it around in the last few minutes of the play off game to win 4-3 and claim third spot - no mean feat given the quality of the opposition.

Next up for the team is the national finals on Friday at Ravenscraig where Deans will compete against six other schools for the title!

A huge thank you to the players for their hard work, as well as to Linsey, Leia, Emily and Millie for score and timekeeping!
